FAQs

  What is Sandblasting?
Sandblasting is a generic term for the process of smoothing, shaping and
cleaning a hard surface by spraying solid particles of sand across that surface
at very high speeds. The outcome is a rough, clean surface, providing an
even finish with no problems cleaning corners or crannies. After sandblasting,
parts are now ready for refinishing such as powder coating or wet paint.
  What is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is a dry finishing process, using finely ground particles of
pigment and resin which are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto
a part to be coated. The parts to be coated are electrically grounded so
that the charged powder particles projected at them adhere to the parts
and are held in place until they are baked, melted and fused into a smooth
coating in the curing oven. Powder Coated parts are baked out at 400 degrees.

Powder coating has become the fastest growing finishing technology over
the past 20 years. More and more finishing engineers for a countless array
of products have switched from wet paint applications to powder coating
as a way to produce a high quality and durable finish while maximizing
production and keeping costs down. The result is a uniform, durable, high
quality finish that is also extremely environmentally friendly.
Can you sandblast plastic, wood, aluminum, etc?
Yes, you can sandblast anything. The question is will it provide the surface
you are looking for. In this area, each project is dealt with individually.
With 30 years of experience we have dealt with everything , including the
kitchen sink. Most of these inquiries can be handled over the phone.
Occasionally customers will bring in their parts for a small sample blast to
see what the finish will look like. There is no charge for this.
How long does it take to do my job?
Typically, a few days. However, some small jobs are turned around in the
same day, depending upon size, color that is desired and other variables.
Is Sandblasting and Powder Coating expensive?

Sandblasting is the least expensive method that is available to get your
part 100 percent clean. Powder coating jobs are typically less expensive
than buying the paint, thinner and labor involved in refinishing your own parts.
